디지털노마드를 위한 취업, 오토매틱 지원 그리고 탈락.

 Dear hiring manger,

My name is Sansol Park and I live in Jeju Island.

I watched Steph Yiu's video presentation of Automattic in Jeju and I was referred to the current position by Ms. Youjin Do.

Hereby I apply for the Customer Marketing Wrangler position of Korean employee in Automattic.

I am a desirable candidate for this position as the first Korean employee working for Automattic because I am a reliable person who is capable of working independently. I have experience in remote working in the two companies I previously worked for and also have built my human network of IT developers by running a group titled, “Jeju Society of IT Freelancers.” Therefore, I can act as the link between Automattic and Korean developers, leading to potential employment of the second and third Korean employees of Automattic.

Besides, I have been running a Korean blog for a decade. I am well aware of SEO and specialize in online marketing. The search engine market is severely distorted in Korea. Naver, the largest portal service provider, dominates the market and WordPress blogs do not appear on the search results in Naver.

In my opinion, WordPress is the most suitable platform for Korean businesses seeking ways to advance into the global marketplace. In addition, there are numerous game developers in Korea and it will be an effective strategy to recommend WordPress website to them as a gateway to the global market.

My first job(Iwell Contents) was the first employee of an eBook startup. I was in charge of hiring talents, organizing new teams, planning new business content, marketing our products, and developing new projects. My strengths lay in product sales. I sold eBooks to libraries in Korea by visiting them one by one and persuaded every single person I met to download the e-book app, and eventually purchase it.

In addition, I was in charge of developing EPUB eBooks using Sigil and published approximately 300 eBooks – including the one with the interview of Matt Mullenweg, the founder of Automattic. EPUB is basically extended from HTML and CSS and the development process of EPUB is similar to website development. I may not be a senior developer but I understand the technical context of the development as a junior developer.

My second job(Kakao) was to evaluate content and approve content writers for a new service called “Brunch” in Kakao Corporation – Brunch is a Korean version of Medium. I was working part-time remotely.

I would like to achieve two goals for Automattic in a year.

First, I will contact clients and make up to ten VIP contracts in Korea.

Second, I will find a couple of reliable and trustworthy employees in Korea.

I am truly excited at this moment to jump into a new adventure with Automattic and I sincerely hope that I could become the first Korean employee of Automattic.

Once again, I assure you that I am one of the most credible talents you can find in Korea. It is not an easy job to find one and I hope you do not miss this opportunity.

Thank you.

RE:

Thank you for your application, you have a lot of experience that is interesting, especially as we build out our Korean presence. I think right now there might be a language barrier, as your English skills improve I encourage you to apply for other roles within Automattic 6-12 months down the line.
